MEET YOUR TRAINER

Hi, I’m Patrick.

I’m the person behind Barks & Recreation.

I’ve worked hands-on with thousands of dogs, from busy daycare groups to individual training and behaviour work.

I use clear cues, rewards your dog values and practical management to make learning easier. Behaviour work may include counter-conditioning and gradual exposure. We’ll discuss proposed exercises and equipment before using them, including their purpose and how your dog responds.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first consultation

We’ll talk through your concerns, your dog’s routine and the changes you’d like to make. I’ll observe your dog where appropriate, identify the first priorities and begin practical work at a level they can manage.

HOW TRAINING STARTS

Three practical steps.

A clear first conversation, practical work together and adjustments based on what your dog shows us.

  1. Tell me what’s happening.

Share your concerns and suburb so we can discuss a suitable first session.

  2. Understand and practise.

We look at your dog’s routine, choose priorities and begin practical work together.

  3. Review and adjust.

Practise the agreed steps between sessions, then refine the plan around your dog’s progress.

BEFORE YOU START

Common questions.

Read all common questions
I don’t know which service I need. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Tell me what happens, when it happens and what you would like to change. We can work out the right starting point together.

My dog barks, lunges or has bitten. Can I still enquire?

Yes. Please include the triggers and any bite or guarding history in your enquiry. That helps us discuss suitability and arrange a sensible setup. You don’t need to put your dog in a difficult situation to demonstrate the problem.

What happens in the first consultation?

We talk through your concerns, your dog’s routine and your goals. I observe your dog where appropriate, identify the first priorities and begin practical work at a level they can manage. It is a starting point for a plan, rather than a promise to solve everything in one session.

BOTH ENDS OF THE LEAD

Let’s make the
next step clearer.

Tell me what life with your dog looks like right now. You don’t need the right label—or a perfectly behaved dog—to get in touch.
